Three of the South Puget Sound League 3A’s strongest girls doubles teams return to the Enumclaw High tennis lineup.
Back on the court for the Hornets are the No. 1 doubles team of Lauren Redman and Anna Nelson. The tandem were undefeated during the regular season and made an appearance at state.
The Hornets also welcome back their undefeated No. 2 doubles team of Breanna Pierce and Julie Sanders, who were district contenders last season.
Also back in the swing are the No. 3 doubles team of Gina Sanders and Bedda Johnson, who lost one match during the regular season.
Coach Rick Carel will be looking for a couple of singles players to fill the gap left by graduating seniors Morgan Johnson and Amanda Oster.
With the Hornets’ strong, returning lineup resting heavily on upperclassmen, Carel has his eye on the future. Eleven freshmen hit the court this spring, many who played the game during the summer, which bodes well for the future.
The Hornets finished their 2009 campaign with an unblemished 14-0 record and the South Puget Sound League 3A title.
EHS starts the season with a three-game home stand starting with Yelm March 17 at 3:30 p.m.
