The Enumclaw High Hornet track and field program launched the 2010 season by traveling to French Field Thursday for a nonleague double-dual meet against Kent-Meridian and Auburn High.
The EHS girls downed Auburn 91-51 but fell to K-M 94-55. It was a tougher day for the Enumclaw boys, who lost to Auburn 81-64 and to K-M 110-35.
For the Hornet girls, Stephanie Schreiner was a two-time winner, capturing the 200 meters with a time of 27.03 seconds and taking the long jump with an effort of 15 feet, 11 inches. Other EHS girls with first-place performances were Angela Lindsey, who won the 400 meters in 1:08.44; Emily Eilertson in the 800 meters, 2:38.06; and AnnaMarie Forza, javelin, 94 feet.
Finishing second among the EHS girls were Schreiner in both the triple jump and 100 meters; Forza in the 200 meters; Amber Cox, 400 meters; Carissa Gwerder, 1,600 meters; Kayla Rodarte, shot put; and Anna Holdner, discus. The 4×400 relay team of Eilertson, Cox, Gwerder and Caitlin Harris was second, as was the 4×200 crew of Alysa Bailey, Forza, Lindsey and Cox.
Placing third were Nikki Gacher in the 3,200 meters and the 4×100 relay team of Cox, Bailey, Lindsey and Kelsey Hopkins.
On the boys side, the Hornets were paced by the first-place performance of Braden Timipe, who won the 1,600 meters in 4:39.93. Also first was the 4×400 relay team of Timpe, Abe Kellogg, Branden Russell and Robby Johnson.
Taking second for EHS were Jordan grant in the discus and Trulan Rockwood in the triple jump.
Placing third were Derek Forza in the 100 meters; Russell, 800 meters; Ryan Weller, 1,600 meters; Stephan Carlino, high jump; and Rockwood in the long jump.
