Enumclaw High’s boys water polo team scored a second-place finish Saturday at the Auburn Water Polo Tournament. After topping Auburn Riverside 5-1 and Rogers 7-5, the No. 8-ranked Hornets fell 6-5 to Auburn in the championship game.
In the title match with Auburn, Garrett Hall led EHS scorers with three goals. Thomas Petersen and Bennon VanHoof each added one.
Against Riverside, Travis Culp led the Hornets with two goals. Hall, VanHoof and Gabe Sales each added one.
VanHoof led the Hornets with four goals in the win over Rogers, while Culp added three more.
Friday, the Hornets topped Auburn Mountainview 8-5 and Emerald Ridge 14-4 to kick off the tournament.
Against Mountainview, Hall led EHS’s scoring attack with five. Logan Ross, Will Cooper and Sales each slammed in one.
VanHoof and Hall led EHS’s scoring arsenal against Emerald Ridge, VanHoof tossing in six and Hall adding five. Culp threw in two more and Cooper added another.
Enumclaw also earned a 13-8 league win over Auburn Mountainview Sept. 21.
VanHoof scored seven, Hall, three, Petersen, two and Culp, one.
