EHS, WRHS continue to bulldoze through NPSL 3A teams

White River improved to 4-0 with 54-7 win against Kentlake, and Enumclaw crushed Thomas Jefferson 68-0.

As might have been suspected, the Plateau’s prep football teams had no trouble last week adding to their victory totals. Taking on two of the lowest ranked teams in the state’s Class 3A ranks, both Enumclaw High and White River rolled to huge triumphs.

White River was the first to post its dominance, playing a rare Thursday night game and defeating Kentlake 54-7. The team was boosted by four touchdown passes by quarterback Tristan Waterman, two of those going to Tate Bowen and one each to Jacob Scheidt and Hunter Maris. In addition, the Hornets had a pair of rushing TDs from Mason Locke and one each by Waterman and AJ Cruz.

Also bypassing the traditional Friday night schedule were the EHS Hornets, who took the field Saturday afternoon and walloped Thomas Jefferson 68-0.

The double landslide victories came on the road. White River’s win came at French Field in Kent and Enumclaw’s victory was on the turf at Federal Way Memorial Field.

With the win, White River remained in a tie for the 3A North Puget Sound League lead, sitting with a 4-0 record in league play (4-1 overall). Enumclaw is just a notch behind at 4-1, with all games of the league variety.

With the season just past the half-way mark both Plateau squads are looking at a stretch run that will determine their postseason aspirations. Here’s what the next month of 3A NPSL play will bring.

White River: Having built an impressive record thus far, the Buckley crew is staring at a final four games that include three foes with winning records (as of this week). This Friday brings a road trip and a battle with the Federal Way Eagles (2-2, 3-2). That is followed by an Oct. 18 game against Kent-Meridian (1-3, 1-4) and an Oct. 24 showdown with the tough Decatur Gators (4-0, 5-0). The regular season concludes with the Nov. 1 Battle of the Bridge against neighboring Enumclaw High.

Enumclaw: The next two weeks provide EHS with the opportunity to pad its victory total prior to a nonleague contest against Life Christian Academy and the Nov. 1 Battle of the Bridge against White River.

This week brings a home game against Kent-Meridian (1-3, 1-4) and Oct. 18 has the Hornets on the road to face Auburn Mountainview (2-3 league and overall).
