A handful of Hornet tennis players, both the Enumclaw and White River types, have advanced to the West Central District boys’ tournament.
The WCD tourney is slated for Oct. 28-29 at the Kitsap Tennis and Athletic Center in Bremerton.
District participants earned their berth during last week’s South Puget Sound League 2A tournament.
Enumclaw High is sending five players to Bremerton. Qualifying in singles was senior Nathan Leonard, who came out of league play as the No. 5 seed. EHS also advanced a pair of doubles teams: the pairing of Kyle Koehn and Carter Williams placed No. 3 from the SPSL tourney and the duo of Caden Zuydhoek, a junior, and sophomore Noah Nuttle wound up No. 4.
White River had senior Tate Ringel advance to district play after landing the No. 6 seed from the league tourney. Also headed to Bremerton are the No. 6 doubles team of sophomore Colby Lange and senior Hayden Stevenson.
From the West Central District tournament, a select field will advance to the Class 2A state championships. That tourney will be played in the spring (May 26-27) at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle.
