Western Washington’s largest outdoor basketball tournament returns Saturday and Sunday as Emerald Downs’ hosts the second annual EmD-3-on-3 basketball tournament on 30 half-courts in the track’s north parking lot.
Last year’s inaugural EmD-3-on-3 drew 261 teams and over 1,000 players in 24 categories, and Emerald Downs Vice President-Operations Bob Fraser said similar numbers are expected for this year’s event.
EmD-3-on-3 is held in conjunction with live Thoroughbred racing at Emerald Downs, and the side-by-side sporting events make for quite a spectacle as athletes-human and equine-compete in basketball and horse racing.
Saturday’s nine-race program features the $65,000 Washington Oaks for 3-year-old fillies, andSunday’s nine-races include the $65,000 Emerald Downs Derby for 3-year-olds. First post is 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
