Two meets into the 2010 season and the Enumclaw High equestrian team is picking up where it left off after winning the Washington High School Equestrian Team state title in 2009.

“We have dominated in our district with winning by over 100 points the last meet,” coach Kamie Storer said.

“Our drill team has won both times at the meets, and our Canadian flags four-man team broke a district record in timed events that had been held for four years.”

This year’s team, 24 riders strong, currently has six of the 11 District 2 records.

Colleen Branson set a steer daubing district record at Grays Harbor in February with a time of 1.72 seconds. She also set the breakaway roping record.

Branson was joined by Kamille Bergquist, Katie Fish and Ali Kratzer on the record-setting Canadian Flags team, which set the district standard at 33.69 in April in Tacoma.

Berquist set the district pole bending record in 2009 with a time of 21.623. Also in 2009, Katelin Willey set the district keyhole record with a time of 7.210 and Kratzer ponied up the individual flags record with time of 8.376.

At the first meet, Branson won the breakaway roping, figure eight time drive and barrel racing, and was second in steer daubing.

Kratzer won flags and was second in keyhole, while Bergquist won poles.

Fish and Kratzer won the birangle with teammates Courtney Campbell and Brittany Hall finishing right behind.

Enumclaw also took the drill title.

Dyllan Freeburg was second in reining, while Kaylee Milbrath took second in hunt seat and then third in working rancher.

Enumclaw was second and third in IHOR.

Joseph Myers was third in flags.

In the second meet, Bergquist won poles with Fish finishing second. Fish also won the birangle competition.

Lauren Storer was first in trail.

Kratzer and Marisa Carlin teamed for the working pairs crown.

Enumclaw teams took first and second in Canadian Flags and captured the drill title.

Second-place finishes went to Branson in breakaway, Kratzer in flags, Kayla Hoiland in keyhole, Kendall Food in dressage and Kyle Ward in stock seat. Kratzer was third in figure eight. Also taking third were Freeburg in reining and Storer in stock seat.

The team’s next competition is Thursday through Sunday at the Grays Harbor fairgrounds, Elma, Wash., with the state championships scheduled for May 13-16 in Wenatchee, Wash.
