Enumclaw High names Kellen Hall coach of boys basketball team

Editor’s note: the following is a press release issued Tuesday by Kevin Smith, Enumclaw High athletic director. A Courier-Herald article will be posted and will appear in the next print edition.

It is with great pleasure that the Athletic Department announces the hiring of Kellen Hall, as the Hornet’s Head Boys Basketball Coach.  Coach Hall has a long history with Hornet and Enumclaw Basketball.

He started in the Enumclaw High School Saturday basketball program as a 2nd grader, playing under the guidance of high school players and coaches.  He continued his love of sports at Enumclaw Junior High, 1994-1996, playing basketball, baseball and football.  At Enumclaw High School, he played basketball and baseball for four years, earning letters in both sports his junior and senior years.  One of the highlights of his athletic career was when the Hornet Basketball program participated in the State Basketball Tournament during his junior and senior years, placing 7th in state during his junior season.  He graduated from EHS in 2000.

After Enumclaw, he went on to play basketball at Green River Community College, and then he returned to Enumclaw High School as an assistant coach in 2001-02.   The Hornets went on that year to place 3rd in state.  He then took a few years off from high school coaching to focus on finishing his education, graduating from Washington State University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.  In 2008 he returned to coaching, and coached basketball at Bonney Lake High School for the next two seasons.  Last year he was hired at Enumclaw as the head junior varsity coach, under interim head coach Ted Carlson.

Coach Hall was born at Enumclaw Community Hospital and was raised in Enumclaw.  He is extremely humbled by this opportunity to return as head coach to the school and sport that he so loves.  He is excited to continue his work with the team he coached last year, and he is ready to continue the traditions and pride of Hornet Hoops.
