Jockey Gallyn Mitchell was resting comfortably at his Enumclaw home Thursday, already on the comeback trail following Monday’s heart attack that sent the track’s all-time leading rider into emergency surgery.

Mitchell, 50, left Multicare Auburn Medical Center Wednesday afternoon, with three stents implanted during the medical procedure. Wife and jockey’s agent Denise Mitchell said her husband was a bit a fatigued from the week’s events, but was otherwise feeling well.

“He’s doing alright,” Denise Mitchell said. “He’ll have to go back in to have one more stent put in, and hopefully that’ll be it.

“He’ll be at home for the next few days to rest. The trick will be trying to stop him from doing too much.”

Sunday, Emerald Downs plans to name a race*“Get Well Gallyn Mitchell”*in honor of the popular jockey.
