Enumclaw’s Justin Harrington won the 155-pound kickboxing belt Oct. 16 at the NW Fight Challenge X at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, Wash.
Harrington, noted as one of the top amateur kickboxers in the Northwest, won the rematch with Julien Martin with a technical knockout in the fifth round.
“I’m done kickboxing,” said the 26-year-old who fights out of Combat Sports and Fitness in Enumclaw and trains under instructor/owner Jeff Hougland. “That was my goal. I’ve got the belt.”
Harrington plans to now concentrate his efforts on a professional mixed martial arts career.
“I’m known more as a striker,” he said. “I’m going to work on tightening up my ground game.”
Hougland used a Round 1 arm bar submission to beat Jeremy Burnett Sept. 25 at the Rumble on the Ridge battle in Snoqualmie, Wash.
