The Bonney Lake Panther girls have been hitting the hardwood this fall and the team is ready for the start of the South Puget Sound League 3A season.

First-year coach Tom Ostrander said the girls are “playing great right now. I’m pretty lucky to get this group. They are working extraordinarily hard.”

Ostrander has a young team with two seniors, six juniors and three sophomores.

“This is a really good mix,” Ostrander said. “Our strength is we are well balanced,”

Marcel Ponds will likely be the leading scorer.

Ostrander said Rachel Weigand will be one of the leaders on the floor and her sister, Rani, will be working in the paint.

Starting at the point will be Rochelle Murray.

Also on the varsity roster for Bonney Lake are Brittany Kennedy, Tiara Killmer, Tosha Lyonais, Emily McCoy, Jordyn Osborne, Cheyann Clark and Carli Elwin.

The Panthers traveled to North Thurston for a nonleague game Tuesday; scores were not available.

Bonney Lake hosts Timberline at 7 p.m. Friday and the first league game for the Panthers will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at home against Enumclaw.
