Friday results posted for local athletes in state tournaments

Enumclaw High fastpitch: The Hornets defeated Bishop Blanchet 8-6 in eight innings to kick off the Class 3A tournament in Tacoma. EHS was slated to take on Port Angeles in the winner’s bracket at 3 p.m. If the Hornets defeat the Roughriders, they will play again at 9 a.m. Saturday. If EHS loses to Port Angeles, the Hornets will play again at 7 p.m. tonight, Friday.

Sumner High tennis: Sumner High’s Dalibor Nakladal went three sets with Jordan Smith of Mercer Island to claim an opening-round victory in the state Class 3A boys tennis tournament in Vancouver, Wash., Friday morning. Nakladal, an exchange student, lost the first set 6-4, but rallied to win the second 7-5 and the third, 6-0. He now faces David Schuster of North Thurston.

Enumclaw High tennis: Enumclaw High’s Lauren Redman and Anna Nelson aced a tiebreaker to win, 7-6 (3) in their opening set of the Class 3A state girls tennis tournament in Vancouver, Wash., Friday morning, but then dropped two straight sets, 6-3, 6-0, to Cassandra Dicken and Becky Sharpe of Hanford. The loss forces them into the consolation bracket to face Sakura Porter and Anna Quach of Evergreen.
