Girls Top League Performances

Girls from Bonney Lake, Enumclaw, Sumner and White River will battle for a chance to advance to the district meet at the Class 3A South Puget Sound League/Western Cascade Conference subdistrict meet Thursday and Saturday at Sunset Chev Stadium.

Girls from Bonney Lake, Enumclaw, Sumner and White River will battle for a chance to advance to the district meet at the Class 3A South Puget Sound League/Western Cascade Conference subdistrict meet Thursday and Saturday at Sunset Chev Stadium.

The top 16 performers from the 13 schools (nine from SPSL and seven from WCC) will compete. The top seven from subdistrict advance to next week’s 3A West Central District meet at Mount Tahoma High School Stadium in Tacoma.

Scheduled Thursday is the girls long jump, javelin throw, shot put, high jump and 3,200-meter run finals at at 3:30 p.m. All other races are prelims. Beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday is the pole vault, triple jump and discus. Finals in the remaining running events start at 1 p.m.

Enumclaw’s Stephanie Jones has a chance to advance in several running event and one field event. Jones has the top time in the 100 meter hurdles among SPSL 3A girls at 15.80 seconds.

She also has the second best time in the 300 hurdles (46.54), behind White River’s Carley McCutchen (46.35). In the triple jump, the senior leads all SPSL 3A competitors with a jump of 37 feet and 2.5 inches.

In the 800 and 1,600 run, Sumner’s Hillary Norris and Bonney Lake’s Veronica Stinnett will battle for a spot at district. Norris has the top league time in both events at 2:17.25 in the 800 and 5:09.74 in the 1,600.

Stinnett will also compete in the 400 and 3,200 run.

Bonney Lake’s Theresa Edwards has the best time in the 3,200 at 11:34.36.

During the season, Stephanie Schreiner of Enumclaw and Sumner’s Ashlee Sincraugh have posted the league’s best 400 times at 59.89 and 60.76, respectively.

Schreiner also has the best mark in the long jump at 17 feet, 9 inches.

In the 4×400 relay, Sumner’s foursome of Lauren Bulzomi Tessa Hansen, Carson Blankenship and Sincraugh, bring the top time to the meet at 4:09.41.

In the shot put, Bonney Lake’s Tiara Killmer has a league-leading 40-9 inches coming into subdistrict.

White River’s Hailey Menzel is tied with two other girls for the top mark in the pole vault at 8-6.
