Green a four-time winner for White River High School

Thursday wasn’t a great day for the White River track and field crew, as the Hornet boys split against Peninsula and Franklin Pierce while the WRHS girls suffered a pair of losses.

The White River boys lost to the host Seahawks 79-66 but swamped the Cardinals 101-44. The Hornet girls fell 93-48 to Peninsula and 74-67 to Franklin Pierce.

For the White River boys, Kramer Green was a four-time winner, taking the 100-, 200- and 400-meter races and running a leg in the victorious 1,600-meter relay. Other highlights included Austin Shirey’s victory in the pole vault, where he cleared 13 feet, and Caleb Murphy’s personal-best performance in the discus.

For the girls, Carley McCutchen won the 100-meter dash, high jump and 300-meter hurdles. Other highlights, according to coach Jerry Scheidt, were the winning efforts of Lauryn Wate in the 1,600 meters and Antoinette Scholes in the discus.
