Gymnasts from White River High School captured the West Central District 2A/3A championship Saturday, sending the entire team to this week’s state championships.
The Hornets were again led by the duo of Erin McGinnes and Chylye Schillen.
At the district meet, McGinnes was the all-around champion, followed by Schillen in second place. At state, they will be joined by teammates Mackenzie Hale, Annelyse Anderson and Emelia Oliver.
Individually, at the WCD meet, McGinnes won the beam and was second in the vault. Schillen won the vault and was second in the floor exercise.
Bonney Lake also fared well at the WCD meet, placing third among the 16 teams factoring in the 2A/3A final standings.
Bonney Lake gymnasts qualifying individually for the state meet were Hayley Ryan, Jasmine McQueen, Lara Ceccoli, Serena Chun and Evelyn Hradil.
The three-day state meet is set for Feb. 21-23 at Sammamish High School. Gymnasts from White River and Bonney Lake will compete Thursday and Friday.
