Enumclaw High is coming off a two-win week and rolling toward postseason soccer action.
Through games of last week, the Hornets had built a South Puget Sound League 3A record of 5-1, most recently mixing it up with the league-leading 6-0 Bonney Lake Panthers and 5-1-1 Auburn Mountainview. The Hornets could end up with a share of the league title if they finish with two victories this week and Auburn Mountainview defeats Bonney Lake. If that should happen, EHS will head into the postseason at the league’s No. 2 club, having lost to Bonney Lake during regular-season play.
The EHS girls conclude the regular season Thursday with a trip to White River. They had one game earlier this week, hosting the Peninsula Seahawks Tuesday; results of that game came too late to include here.
The postseason begins with a crossover series Nov. 4 matching SPSL 3A teams against those from the Seamount League. The two No. 1 teams will square off, as will the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 teams. Those games will determine seeding into a Nov. 7 playoff round. The No. 5 teams will play as well, with the winner advancing and the loser finished for the season.
EHS whipped Lakes 3-0 Thursday. Scoring goals were Claire Meeks, Marissa Toussaint and Juliet Bannerot, more than enough to back the shutout goalkeeping of Caitlin Plese.
EHS took an easy 6-0 victory Oct. 20 at Clover Park. Noelle Bauer and Emily Meeks scored twice and adding single goals were Bannerot and Dani Streuli.
