Thursday’s cool and cloudy conditions apparently agreed with the White River High tracksters, who swamped the visiting Decatur Golden Gators.
Competing March 27 on their home turf, the Hornets boys rolled to a decisive 100-44 victory over their 3A North Puget Sound League foes. On the girls side, White River won 72-50.
The Hornet boys were paced by Dainton Neff who swept the throws, Michael Marlow in the distance races and sprinter Hunter Maris.
Neff was clearly tops in the field with an effort of 44 feet, 5.25 inches in the shot put, a toss of 152 feet in the discus and a throw of 130 feet, 5 inches in the javelin. Marlow was No. 1 in the 800 meters with a time of 2:01.19 and in the 1,600 meters with a showing of 4:37.77. Maris won both sprints, the 100 meters (11.42 seconds) and the 200 meters (24.04).
Other White River winners were Eli Long in the 400 meters, Braden Eames in the 110-meter hurdles, Hunter Oswold in the 300-meter hurdles, Jorden Goethals in the high jump, and Logan Macias in the triple jump.
Also, the Hornet quartet of Maris, Eames, Cannon Ross and Marlow won the 4×400 relay.
The White River High girls were headed by a pair of two-event winners. Jordyn Daigle won the 100 meters with a time of 13.77 seconds and took the 200 meters in 29.09 seconds; Paeton Poelman was tops at 400 meters (1:04.87) and 3,200 meters (11:40.18).
Other event winners for the Hornet girls were Vivian Kingston at 800 meters, Trista Turgeon in the 100-meter hurdles, Addisyn Vanous in the javelin and Maci Roach in the pole vault.
The White River foursome of Charlee Sproed, Charlotte Weber, Nativity Leddy and Kingston won the 4×400 relay and the crew of Ellie Maryanski, Lily Robbin, Aislinn Howisey and Victoria Blakley finished first in the 4×200 relay.
