The Rainier Plateau Junior Rugby Club was started in 2008 by Andy Ramsay.
Ramsay is now the coach of the girls team along side Jeff Sprouse who coaches the boys.
The season starts the second week in January with a rookie camp for those considering playing to learn basic elements of rugby.
The teams are made up of athletes from Enumclaw, Buckley, Bonney Lake, Sumner, Fife, Puyallup and Auburn.
An informational meeting for prospective players and their parents to learn about the program and how to join will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12 at the Sumner Public Library.
The main thing Ramsay wants to emphasize, he said, is that rugby is a sport that welcomes anyone to get involved.
“We have no cuts and do not care what your athletic or sporting background is,” he said.
