Local prep football coach chosen to assist

Innovative head football coach at Bonney Lake H.S., Chad Barrett was selected to be an assistant coach of the West contingent in tomorrow's annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Barrett was selected as one of seven assistant coaches for the West squad in Saturday’s meeting of national high school upperclassmen all-stars at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The encounter, which will be broadcast nationally by NBC at 10 a.m. PST Jan. 7, features the top 90 senior high school football players from around the country in an East versus West format.

Of the opportunity Barrett, who is in his third season at Bonney Lake and has compiled a 19-9 record in that span said, “Being recognized to coach in this game is not only a huge professional honor for me, but an even greater tribute to the culture of achievement at our school and in our district.”
