Emerald Downs Director of Racing Bret Anderson has released 23 handicap weights for the 80th running of the $200,000 Longacres Mile (G3) on Sunday, August 16.
Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Bayern is high weighted at 125 pounds, while defending Longacres Mile champion Stryker Phd is next at 123 pounds, and figures to be the starting high weight. Multiple graded winners Alert Bay and G.G. Ryder, both based in Northern California, were assigned 122 pounds each, while Southern California-based Appealing Tale is next at 121 pounds.
The Longacres Mile is limited to 12 starters with high weights preferred. Entries will be drawn 11a.m., Wednesday, August 12, in the Emerald Room (fourth floor).
In the $65,000 Emerald Distaff for older fillies and mares, second half of the August 16 stakes double-header, Lady Rosberg is assigned high weight of 121 pounds. with Hastings Racecourse-based Rather Beautiful second at 119 pounds.
