The Links at Moses Pointe is poised to host the 28th Annual Pacific Northwest Men’s and 14th Annual Senior Men’s Amateur Public Links Championships conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) on Aug. 27-28.  The championship is open to amateur and senior amateur golfers who are members in good standing of a PNGA member public golf course only, including semi-private and military courses, have been a bona fide public course player since Jan. 1, and meet the handicap requirements.  Players will be tested on the desert classic design perched high above the west shore of Moses Lake.

In the Men’s Championship, Sean Packer of Lake Tapps will return to seek his first PNGA title after finishing tied for seventh in his last two championships.  Other top contenders for the title are Broc Johnson of Auburn, who finished tied for fourth in 2009, and Evan Needham of Bellingham, who finished in sixth place in 2009.

In the Senior Men’s Championship, returning champion Dave Farnam of Kent, is back to defend his title.  Farnam has also won the PNGA Amateur Public Links Championship a record three times (1985, ‘89, ‘99).  Other notable contenders include four-time champion Kent Brown (2006 – 09) of Colville, and 2010 WSGA Senior Men’s Amateur Champion Keith Crimp of Ellensburg.

The championship calls for 36 holes of stroke play competition with an awards ceremony to take place on Sunday afternoon.
