Junior rugby team hosting clinic Monday
The Enumclaw High girls were able to play just one game last week before Mother Nature threw a technical foul at the entire western Washington prep sports scene.
Puyallup’s Rogers High canceled its boys’ and girls’ holiday wrestling tournament due to poor weather, but is inviting all the teams back for competition and a second go Saturday.
The Enumclaw High boys swim team was able to get its South Puget Sound League 3A meet in Dec. 16 against Auburn Mountainview and the Hornets came away with a 107-63 victory.
The Bonney Lake gymnastic meet scheduled for Dec. 17 at Auburn High was cancelled due to snow and icy conditions.
Icy weather conditions forced Bonney Lake High’s wrestling squad to postpone a scheduled dual meet Dec. 17 with Lakes and, additionally, put the Panthers’ slated journey across the mountains to Pasco’s Best of the West Invitational Friday and Saturday on ice.
The Bonney Lake High boys lost to Auburn Mountainview, but it took three overtime periods before the Panthers fell 71-63 at home Dec. 16.
The Bonney Lake High girls picked up another big win before the snow shut down basketball games.
The Sumner High boys played an athletic Clover Park basketball team Dec. 16 at home as the Spartans lost 66-39.
In Enumclaw High’s solitary contest last week, Peninsula High braved the elements, made the trip to The Hive and wound up suffering its initial setback of the 2008-09 campaign at the hands of the red-hot, 4-0 Hornets.
The icy, snowy weather conditions canceled White River High’s South Puget Sound League 3A wrestling match scheduled for Dec. 17 with Clover Park as well as its boys tournament at Yelm and its girls tournament at Rogers High Saturday.
In its only hoop action last week, the White River High boys found out the hard way that Lakes High, a squad that finished second in last year’s Class 3A state tournament, still has the personnel left over to put a pretty decent contingent on the floor.
