The Bonney Lake girls soccer team defeated Sweet 16 opponent Kelso 2-0 in the first round of the WIAA state tournament.

The two goals were shot by Brittany Martin, assisted by Kelsey Lund, and Haleigh Ryneski. Sydney Bennett shut out all attempted goals on Panther turf.

The Panthers are now in the top 8 bracket of the tournament, and will play their next match this Saturday. Their opponent will be the winner of the Shorecrest/Liberty game played at Liberty Stadium tonight at 7 p.m.
