Bonney Lake High’s volleyball bunch has punched its ticket to the South Puget Sound League 3A’s subdistrict tournament Saturday at Auburn Mountainview High.

If the Panthers defeated Enumclaw Tuesday in their final SPSL 3A regular season contest they finished with a record of 8-2, sewing up second place to only unbeaten pacesetter 10-0 Auburn Mountainview. If Bonney Lake dropped the match, the Panthers and the Hornets would be knotted at 7-3 for the silver medal and some sort of tie-breaking procedure would be set into motion.

Bonney Lake traveled to Auburn Mountainview Oct. 19, the Panthers took the second game but fell 25-18, 18-25, 25-13 and 25-22. Chelsea Merkel amassed 32 assists, senior hitters Taylor Watkins and Erica LeFevers combined for 19 kills and Watkins and Bailey Kinkel were able to accrue 29 digs between them.
