The Bonney Lake High boys lost three basketball games last week, but played a solid game against Clover Park at home Saturday.

The Panthers lost to Clover Park 56-44. Bonney Lake went down 16-7 at the end of the first frame, but went on a 17-10 tear in the second to come with two at the half. In the third, Clover Park took the advantage 19-9.

“The kids worked very hard,” coach John Hofstrand said. “We had a good first half.”

Lawrence Williams hit 14 to lead the scoring for the Panthers. The freshman point guard has added some offensive punch to the Bonney Lake attack along with ball handling.

“He’s a good kid and he really fills some holes for us,” Hofstrand said. “We need someone scoring points for us.”

The Panthers traveled to Peninsula Friday and lost 61-40.

Braun led the numbers for Bonney Lake with 13.

The Panthers played the South Puget Sound League 3A leaders Enumclaw at home Jan. 20 and lost 72-39.Braun scored 11.

Bonney Lake traveled to Auburn Montainview Tuesday – scores were not available by deadline – and hosts Lakes at 7 p.m. Friday.
