Lee Reichert will be among five coaches inducted into the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame Oct. 30. The ceremony will take place as part of the annual WSWCA Coaches Clinic in Wenatchee, Wash.

Reichert, who retired as EHS coach in September and is hoping to return to that position as a rehire this season, will join Lakeside High’s Scott Jones, Tonasket’s David Mitchell, Wenatchee’s Stan Opp and Snohomish’s Mark Perry in the Class of 2010. With the induction of these five coaches, the WSWCA Hall of Fame will have 111 members.

The WSWCA also honors those who have significantly contributed to wrestling in Washington state with the Joe Babbitt Contributors Award. Al Rasmussen of Seattle will be honored for his contributions.

Reichert has been a head coach at the high school level for 30 years, the last 15 at Enumclaw. Through those 30 years his teams have a dual meet record of 218-10-0, a winning percentage better than 96 percent. His teams have won five state championships, nine regional titles, 19 subregional titles, 18 league titles along with a win streak of 54 straight duals. He has coached 98 state placers, including 16 state champions. While at Kentwood, two of his athletes were the first teammates to wrestle in the state finals in the same weight class. Reichert’s teams have won eight Dream Dual championships in Spokane.

Reichert has been voted the league Coach of the Year eight times, and regional Coach of the Year six times. In 2007 Reichert was honored as the 3A State Coach of the Year. He hosts a yearly summer wrestling camp in the community to continue development of the sport on the Enumclaw plateau.

Jerry Scheidt, EHS girls wrestling coach, and EHS Athletic Director Kevin Smith nominated Reichert. “Lee teaches success on the mat and in life comes from goal setting, and then taking action to stay committed to your goals,” they wrote. “He reminds them daily in practice that success stops when you stop. These life lessons from Lee, a caring and humble man, will guide these young student athletes for many years to come.”
