Eighty-five people competed in the 2009 Bonney Lake Days 5 Miler Aug. 15.
The course began at Emerald Hill Elementary School and finished at Allan Yorke Park.
Cool temperatures and about 50 spectators welcomed the runners as they made their way down West Tapps Highway.
The male winner was Trevor Kulvi and Jena Winger was the top female runner. Kulvi finished with a time of 28 minutes, 13.9 seconds and Winger’s time was 34:01.9.
Kulvi is a 2003 graduate of Sumner High School and was a member of the Central Washington University track team.
Winger, also a Sumner High grad, was a member of the Willamette University track team.
First-place winners in the age classes in the female division were Sydney Campbell (13 and younger), Tayler Peterson (14-19), Winger (20-29), Karen Weber (30-39), Mary Hatcher (40-49), Lisa Jackson (50-59) and Sandra Maib (60-69).
First-place winners for the males were Jobe Layton (14-19), Kulvi (20-29), Malcolm Dunn (30-39), Darrin Hatcher (40-49), Darryl Montgomery (50-59), David Berg (60-69) and Mel Preedy (70 and older).
