Antoinette Scholes easily surpassed her personal best in the discus June 5, winning a Junior Olympics qualifying meet at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.

As a result, she will head to Norfolk, Va., July 7 to compete in the National AAU Junior Olympic Games. The national meet runs July 30 through Aug. 7 at Norfolk State University.

Scholes, a student at White River High School, threw the discus 116 feet, 3 and one-half inches. Her previous best was 108-8.
