SHS BOYS BASKETBALL: Spartan boys drop two

The Sumner High boys basketball squad went from the frying pan to the fire last week as, after traveling to Eatonville and losing 56-55, the Spartans hosted Franklin Pierce a couple of days later and lost 60-51 to the South Puget Sound League 2A’s favorite to win it all.

A silver lining in the cloud so far this season has been the dynamic play of junior forward Dan DeVries. DeVries has been averaging 15 points per outing.

In the pair of league losses last week, DeVries scored 14 points in the road defeat to the Cruisers and a dozen points against Franklin Pierce.
