After losing a South Puget Sound League 2A battle 51-50 to White River Jan. 18, Sumner High’s boys basketball squad rebounded Friday by beating visiting Eatonville High 55-49.

The Spartans never bested in the affair with the Cruisers and led 28-20 at intermission with the help of ambitious play from junior forwards Zeb Glissmeyer and Joey Kendal who combined to put up 27 points on EHS with their aggressive inside play in the paint.

Sumner still owns an outside chance to make the playoffs. However, the Spartans are in the unenviable predicament of having to take on Franklin Pierce, Fife and Clover Park in the next couple of weeks in what figures to be the toughest stretch on the Spartan slate.

Sumner High will host a rare Saturday evening nonleague exhibition outing against neighboring Bonney Lake at 7 p.m.
