SHS BOYS TENNIS: Sumner faces Hornets Friday

Sumner ended the week Friday with a 5-0 win over Clover Park in Lakewood.

In singles action, No. 1 Grant Fulton won 7-6, 6-4 and No. 2 Jacob Heuett blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0.

The No. 1 doubles team of Will Mortell and Ben Landes won 6-3, 6-2; Alex Landes and Hunter Bleha recorded a tough 7-6, 6-3, win; and Christian Hines and Dylan Russell won by default.

Franklin Pierce handed Sumner a 4-1 loss in league action in Sumner Sept. 30.

Heuett had the team’s lone victory with a 5-7, 7-5, 6-0 win over Justin LeMay, while Fulton fell, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles action, Mortell and Ben Landes lost by identical 6-0 scores, and Alex Landes and Bleha dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision in No. 2 action.

The No. 3 team of Russell and Hines fell, 3-6, 6-2, 6-0.

On Sept. 28, the Spartans were shut out by Enumclaw 5-0 in league play on the road.

Fulton fell, 6-0, 6-2 and Heuett lost in a tough match 6-4, 6-3.

Mortell and Landes lost 6-4, 6-2, Bleha and Alex Landes fell 6-3, 6-1, and the Spartans dropped a 6-2, 6-0 contest.

Sumner will host White River Friday and play at Bonney Lake on Monday.
