There are good ways to kick off a season and then there are really good ways to do get the party started.
In its initial soccer action of the season the Sumner girls pummeled North Thurston 16-0 at Sunset Chev Stadium Thursday.
“We were doing everything we could to keep the scoring down,” said coach Robi Turley, whose team took the South Puget Sound League 3A crown in 2008 with a 14-0-1 record. “We even put a couple of freshmen in the contest when it was becoming kind of a lopsided game and they both scored hat tricks.” Turley can only hope the hits keep coming when her Spartan booters play three noncounters with Timberline, Lakes and Bellarmine, before their league opener Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Lakes.
