A 1-1 tie against Timberline High at Sunset Stadium showed there is a youth movement happening on the Sumner High boys soccer team.

Both the Spartans and the Blazers scored in the first half, before the second 40 minutes of the rendezvous deteriorated into a defensive struggle.

The Spartans, whose record now stands at 1-1-2 overall, tallied its goal in the 28th minute against the Western Cascade Conference foe. Sumner High sophomore midfielder Shaun Lavigne took an assist from freshman forward Jose Hernandez to register the goal.
