She joins a long list of Lady Spartans who will compete in November’s state meet, like freshman Madison Munger who bettered her 100 butterfly state-qualifying time with a 1:02.73 and junior Sami Hendricks who improved her 50 freestyle state-qualifying time with a 25.27.

Sophomore Kallan Gustafson just missed qualifying for state in the 500 freestyle and is expected to make it before the regular season concludes.

Sophomore Elizabeth Martin and senior Katie Ekse were district qualifiers in the 100 breaststroke in a 1:21.49 and 1:23.53 respectfully. Senior Lizzie Kressler qualified for districts in the 500 freestyle. Freshman Alicia Ditty qualified in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2.29.70 and the 100 backstroke in 1.06.79, just shy of a state time. Sophomore Ashley Huynh qualified in the 100 backstroke in a 1.14.00.

Another highlight was Kristen Easterly’s 500 freestyle finish. The freshman finished fifth in her first attempt at the distance race.

“The girls did really good swimming in an evening meet,” coach Dana Powers said. “I’m so impressed with their sportsmanship and their willingness to be there for other swimmers. I continue to hear from the other teams what a joy it is to swim against us because our girls are such great sports.”
