Saturday, while Enumclaw High’s varsity wrestling team was taking the crown at the White River Classic wrestling tournament, the junior varsity Hornets were down the hill at the Sumner Invite eight-team varsity tournament, where they finished fourth.
Enumclaw topped 4A Kent-Meridian 42-30 during the opening round and posted a 36-30 victory over 2A Klahowya, which was third in state last year, a in Round 2.
The Hornets ran into host Sumner next, dropping a 42-24 match to the Spartans.
The Hornets dropped the next two matches with identical 48-31 scores to 6A Westview, Ore., and 2A Steilacoom to finish fourth.
