Throughout the early part of the soccer season that is stocked with nonleague contests, Bonney Lake High coach Luke Helling-Christy sees his crew playing better and, more important, playing as a cohesive unit.

The goal, he believes, is to get everyone on the same page and playing their best during a late stretch run that will shape the South Puget Sound League 3A playoff picture.

This week finds the Panthers playing two more nonleague contests. The team travels to face Capital High today, Wednesday, and had played one game earlier this week, hosting Clover Park on Monday. Results of Monday’s game came too late to be included here but will be posted at www.blscourierherald.com.

Both of this week’s games are nonleague affairs.

The Panthers played their first SPSL 3A game April 1, battling to a 1-1 tie against the visiting Enumclaw Hornets.

After the visitors took the lead in the 29th minute, Bonney Lake answered with a tying goal from Nick Hall five minutes into the second half.

The Panthers had kicked off spring break March 30 with a 2-1 loss to the Yelm Tornadoes.

After falling behind in the 20th minute, Bonney Lake tied the game when Hall scored at the 25-minute mark. The visitors scored the contest’s only goal of the second half to take the nonleague win.
