The Sumner Spartans showed plenty of offense late last week, scoring 28 runs during a Friday baseball victory over Clover Park and a Thursday loss to Enumclaw High.
The Spartans rolled to a 20-9 victory over the Warriors a day after losing 13-8 to the Hornets.
Sumner jumped on top of Clover Park early, scoring three times in the first inning and adding four more in the second frame. It was a 12-run outburst in the fourth inning, however, that sealed the win and brought about an early end to the contest.
Driving in three runs each were Sumner’s Casey Edwards, Brad Falk and Jordan Schliesman.
Michael Greenwood picked up the victory on the mound.
Thursday’s wild affair had Sumner scoring five times in the bottom of the seventh to tie the contest, only to see the Hornets rattling off seven runs in the top of the eighth to earn the victory.
The Spartans kept busy early this week, traveling to Auburn Mountainview Monday and hosting the Lakes Lancers Tuesday. Results of both games came too late to be included here, but will be posted at www.blscourierherald.com. After returning from spring break, Sumner will travel to Franklin Pierce Tuesday.
