UPDATE: An earlier version of this article contained calendar irregularities regarding upcoming games. An amended version is below.
Sumner girls soccer brought down Franklin Pierce 4-0 at the Sept. 25 match. The Spartans remain undefeated this season with a 5-0 record in South Puget Sound League 2A, and a 7-0 record overall.
All goals were made without assists to the scorers.
Ellie Degoede shot a goal at the 28-minute mark. Kaylie Rozell shot another at the 37-minute mark.
Defender Sarah Carter shot two goals at the 42-minute and 65-minute marks. If you read our profile of Carter this week, you may recall the opening lines said her position keeps her from appearing on score agates; Tuesday night marks two games in a row the team captain has proven that statement wrong.
Abby Smith and Jamie Lange both shut out attempted Franklin Pierce goals.
The Spartans are scheduled to play the Washington High Patriots on Oct. 9. The team will play Steilacoom the evening of Sept. 27, and Fife Oct. 2. The following week will see them take on Washington High Oct. 9 and White River Oct.11.
