Sumner fastpitch dropped a 7-2 game to Graham-Kapowsin Monday afternoon in nonleague play.
The Spartans took an early lead after scoring a run in the second inning of a slow-starting game. Both teams went run-less in the first and third innings. The fourth inning saw the Eagles take three runs and the Spartans take one more, their last of the game. The Eagles scored another run in the fifth and three more in the sixth, before a run-less seventh.
On the pitcher’s mound, Allie Sims didn’t let the Eagles take victory without a fight. She pitched five innings and struck out six players.
The Spartans are scheduled to play their first South Puget Sound League 2A game against Washington High at home Tuesday afternoon.
