Sumner’s baseball team lost to Fife High 8-4 Tuesday in conference play.
The Spartans took an early advantage with four runs in the second inning, but went run-less the remainder of the game. Fife bounced back with four runs in the sixth and another four in the eighth.
Luc Powers-Hubbard went to bat three times and connected twice, leaving the diamond with 2-RBI.
Spartan Christian Parsons was the game’s losing pitcher, to Fife’s Andrew Waltner.
The game was Sumner’s second loss of the week to Fife, a team tied for the top spot in the South Puget Sound League 2A conference. Both have 7-1 conference records; Sumner is on their heels with a 6-2 record, followed by Franklin Pierce and Orting at 4-4.
The Spartans are scheduled to play Bonney Lake out of conference Saturday, followed by a conference home game versus Franklin Pierce Monday. They will play again at Franklin Pierce High School Tuesday.
