Sumner’s boys basketball team lost a close 85-70 game to Clover Park Friday night.
The team played and won a crosstown rivalry game against Bonney Lake Saturday.
The Spartans trailed the Warriors in three of four quarters. Quarterly scores were 22-29, 13-20, 15-10 and 20-26.
Keenan Jackson more than stepped up to the challenges of the evening, shooting 28 points; for context, his next best scoring night was Dec. 21, when he shot 17 points against Enumclaw. Riley Bruil trailed Jackson with 12 points, and every Spartan shot at least two points.
However, the athleticism displayed by Clover Park was tremendous. David Crisp led the Warriors with a whopping 42 points, his best in an already impressive season. He was followed by three double-digit scoring teammates, concentrating the team’s score into a few key players.
The Spartans play Washington High on the Patriots’ court tonight, Tuesday.
