Sumner High School’s baseball team was able to bring its South Puget Sound League 3A standing to an even 4-4 after defeating Washington High Tuesday. But just as the team pulled a 7-1 win, they were robbed of a same-day round two by rainy weather.
The Spartans took one run in the first inning, three in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. The Patriots scored their lone run in the third inning.
On the pitching side, Brandon Boyd had six innings pitched, one hit allowed, one earned run allowed, four strikeouts and five walks. The Patriots’ Aaron Sienkiewich had three innings pitched, four hits allowed, four earned runs allowed, three strikeouts and one walk.
On the batting side, Chayce Christensen had two hits out of four at-bats, two runs batted in and hit one double. The Patriots’ Andre Dixon had one hit out of three at-bats.
Today’s away game against Clover Park was cancelled. The Spartans are expected to resume their interrupted second game against Washington on Wednesday, April 25.
