The Rainier Highlanders rugby club improved to 7-0 for the season with a 12-0 victory Saturday over the Harbour Hurricanes of Gig Harbor, Wash.
Played in muddy conditions in Tacoma, scoring for the Highlanders were Isaiah Figueroa and Eli Miller.
The local Highlanders had an easier time March 6, when they registered a 31-5 victory over the Prairie Mustangs (Yelm). The game was played under sunny skies at the White River Alternative School field.
Enumclaw’s David Brazier scored three times and Jake Christiansen, also of Enumclaw, led with four assists. Sumner’s Colin Pearson received the “man of the match” award.
The Highlanders host Budd Bay of Olympia at noon Saturday on the White River Alternative School field. The start time is subject to change.
Practices are open to new players. Turnout times are 6:30 p.m. Mondays at Bonney Lake High and 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Sumner High. More information is available at rainierjuniorrugby.com.
