Ladies Club announces winners
Chairpersons Judi Puttman and Jeanne Lyman recently announced the winners of the Enumclaw Ladies Golf Club’s annual Mixed-Scramble “Pie” Tournament Aug. 18 at the Enumclaw Golf Course.

A dinner followed. It is tradition for members to bring pies for dessert. A raffle also took place with the grand prize, a Quinnalt Resort and Casino package, going to Pat Strom.
The tournament is the Ladies Club’s main fundraiser and continues scholarships for Enumclaw High School girls golf team members as well as maintaining other projects.
EHS football hosts golf fundraiser
Enumclaw football will host a fundraising golf tournament Aug. 20 at the Enumclaw Golf Course.
This tournament’s expected to be shotgun format with a noon start.

Wolverines need Pee Wees, Midgets
Enumclaw Wolverine coaches Coy McElderry, Pee Wees, 11- to 14-year-olds, and Brad Finicle, Midgets, 10- to 13-year-olds, are looking for several more athletes to fill their 2010 roster. For information go to www.wolverinejuniorfootball.com or call McElderry at 206-730-5199.
Two foursomes tie for Lee victory
Inspired by Creation Festival music, Tyson Hiffman, Les Stehr, Sheila Shannon and Cathy Vorpahl tied with the team of Dan Winkel, Patsy Parkhurst, Clark Rogerson and Betty French for top honors Thursday during Lee golf action at the Enumclaw Golf Course.
Kathy Olson drive and putt that scored two separate birdies led her team, which included Don Spencer, Mary Josie and Yankee Dial, to third place.
Combat Sport brings home gold
Teams from Combat Sport and Fitness have been busy this summer.
Coach and Combat Sport and Fitness owner Jeff Hougland and Josh Calvo, one of the professionals, fought at the most recent Rumble on The Ridge at the Snoqualmie Casino. Both came home with victories, winning with first-round submissions.
July 16 and 17, about 10 students, kids and adults, competed at The Revolution at Bonney Lake High School. At the largest tournament in Washington – with more than 460 competitors from the Northwest, Oregon, Idaho and Canada – Combat Sports and Fitness combined with its sister school Foster BJJ of Kent to win the overall competition for the second year in a row and also capture first place in the no-gi competition.
Combat Sport and Fitness came home with four golds and four silver medals.
Casey Park and Paul Deveglio were no-gi winners. Stevie Williams took gold in the adult women’s gi division, Chase Hooper was a gold medalist in the gi youth division and Jack Munnell won the no-gi youth division.
Katie Lovelace earned a silver medal in the no-gi youth division. Tyson Cummingham was a third-place finisher in the gi adult division.
Three out of four members came home from competition at Highline Community College with wins.
Kahne finishes 13th at Brickyard
Kasey Kahne scored a 13th-place finish Sunday at Indianapolis’ Brickyard 400 during NASCAR Sprint Cup racing.
“We just kind of battled the same stuff most of the race and couldn’t get a real good balance,” Kahne said. “We were loose and just weren’t very good. It’s just where we were today. We got 13th and even if things happened perfectly in traffic and all that we would have maybe run 10th at best, but we just weren’t that good.”
The Top 20 finish places Kahne 17th in driver points with racing continuing Sunday from Pennsylvania.
