Several local wrestlers are taking the mat at Highline Community College.

The Thunderbirds participated in the Boxer Open at Pacific University Jan. 29 to stay in shape for the Region 18 Championships, a national qualifier, which begins Saturday in Coos Bay, Ore.

Enumclaw High graduate Jason Gray is a defending Region 18 champion and Northwest Junior College Athletic Association All-American for the Thunderbirds. Fellow Hornet teammate Casey Park also wrestles for the squad.

White River High graduate Caleb Padgett is a NJCAA National Qualifier for Highline.

Sumner High graduates Tyler Wooding and Viktor Ognoskie are also suiting up for the T-birds. Wooding finished third at 133 pounds at the Boxer Open. Ognoskie was fourth at heavyweight.
