Wolverines close season with win

The Enumclaw Wolverine Midgets ended the season with a 24-6 win over the Auburn Panthers Sunday.  Touchdowns were scored by Jordan Johnson, Bryce Johnson and Kyle Couts, who hit the end zone twice. Noah Volker played good defense and Cole Tucker recovered a fumble.

The Enumclaw Bantams beat the Panthers 35-6. Alex Armstrong, Mitchell Lockhart and Brennen Lindberg scored touchdowns.  A point-after run was posted by Josh Tomt.  Besides running in a 80-plus yard touchdown, Armstrong kicked a field goal.

The Enumclaw 89ers fell 6-0.

The Enumclaw Sweet Peas also fell.  The team’s lone touchdown was scored by Mason Donovan. Ryan Martinez recovered a fumble.

Scalabrine hitting high note in Italy

In his first three games with Benetton Treviso, Enumclaw High graduate Brian Scalabrine scored 16, eight and 18 points, including shooting 4 for 6 from 3-point range and 13 for 18 from inside the arc.

Scalabrine, who played his college ball at the University of Southern California, was a second-round NBA draft pick in 2001, going to the New Jersey Nets, where he played in the NBA finals. He later played for the Boston Celtics and in 2010 was with the Chicago Bulls.

The 6-foot-9, 235-pound forward signed a one-year contract with Benetton Treviso in September.
