Connor Powers-Hubbard, Zane Gustafson, Brandon Richison and Trent Powers powered their way to a 10th-place preliminary finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay Friday afternoon at the Class 3A state meet at the King County Aquatic Center.
The foursome turned in Sumner’s top performance of the day and will return for Saturday’s finals.
Their time was 1 minute, 35.78 seconds.
Powers will also return to the finals after a 13th-place preliminary finish in the 50 freestyle. His time was 22.89 seconds.
The 400 freestyle relay of Powers, Gustafson, Richison and Powers-Hubbard finished 14th in the preliminary race. They will return to Saturday’s final too.
Powers-Hubbard will also serve as an alternate in the 100 breaststroke after finishing 17th. He also finished 20th in the 200 freestyle.
Evan Quaschnik was 19th after the first-round of diving with 157.50 points.
