STATE WRESTLING: Bailey wins second title; EHS boys 2nd, WR sixth; Bonney Lake scores two champs

Chantelle Bailey wins second state title, while Yelm nips Enumclaw boys.

Six points, that’s all that separated Enumclaw from a third-straight state Class 3A wrestling title Saturday night. Yelm came-from-behind to nip the Hornets in the final rounds at the Tacoma Dome, 148.5 to 142.

Enumclaw was paced by Hunter File, who won the 125-pound state title, and runners-up Josh Musick and Kario Wallin. The threesome helped the Hornets give Yelm a run for its money.

White River also had a pair of runners-up for the night – Chase Myers and Alec Williams. The Hornets finished sixth in team points.

Bonney Lake scored two championships, Andrew Cunningham at 103 pounds and Nick Bendon at 140. The Panthers finished eighth.

On the girls side for Enumclaw, Chantelle Bailey won her second straight 171-pound state title. The Enumclaw senior pinned Fife’s Faith Wasmund in the opening round to finish the season a perfect 32-0 and her career, 50-6. Teammate Jade Paterson was fourth and the Hornets closed out the night in ninth. White River finished 12th.
