STATE WRESTLING: Panthers send two to semifinals

Two Panthers will head into Saturday morning's semifinal matches at the Class 3A state wrestling tournament in the Tacoma Dome.

Andrew Cunningham and Nick Bendon advance to Saturday’s Class 3A state wrestling semifinals.

The pair are two of three still remaining on the mat for the Panthers. Jared Dorsey will continue working his way through the heavyweight consolation bracket Saturday morning.

During Friday’s competition, Cunningham started the tournaemnt with a 47-second pin and followed it up with a 6-0 decision to earn his short at the 103-pound finals.

Bendon also kicked off the tournament with a first-round pin, 1:18, and then a 9-1 decision. He is one match away from the 140-pound finals.

The Panthers closed out the first day of competition in 11th place behind leader Enumclaw. Yelm, North Central and White River rounded out the top four.
