District rival Bonney Lake topped Sumner 3-2 April 13 in girls tennis, but the Spartans put up a fight.

Spartans grabbed wins at singles with Emily Gonzales topping Ashley Reisen 6-4, 7-5 and Megan Smith winning 6-2, 6-3.

The doubles competition tipped the scales toward the Panthers with the McCoys defeating Taylor Henken and Kyla Anderson 6-4, 6-1. Brittany Skirm and Jasmine Babcock lost 6-0, 6-2, while Kaily Bieber and Taylor Friermuth won their first set 6-4, then dropped the next two 6-4, 6-3.
